Overview

Weber State University maintains 11 open-student computer labs located across the Ogden, Davis and Roy campuses.

These labs are managed by Student Affairs Technology (SAT) in Student Affairs and funded by student fees and other monies. The labs are open to all registered students and faculty. SAT is responsible for the maintenance of all lab facilities which include computer hardware, software, internet connectivity, printing, supplies and on-site staff.

 SAT works closely with the Networking Management and Technology Support departments in the Information Technology division to ensure the student labs continue to provide a service to enable WSU students’ academic success.

Open-student lab policy is set by the Faculty Senate through the Academic Resources and Computing Committee.

Available Services

Each SAT computer lab has different services to enhance your educational experience. 

Some of the services* offered are:

• PC and Mac computers

• Scanners

• Software Specialists

• Copy machines

• Color printing (Lampros Hall & Davis Info Commons)

• Classrooms available for scheduled class time

• Passkey Learning Module

• Courteous Lab Assistants

*Specific services in labs vary.  Please ask a lab aide about locations of these specific services.

Among other services offered are:

Laptop Checkout program

Students can now avail the opportunity to check-out a laptop for a three-hour period and connect to  the campus wireless network. Laptop check-outs are available at the Lampros Hall lab, Wattis Business lab and the Davis Campus computer lab.

Printing             

• All open-student computer labs have a printing system called UniPrint. Uniprint enables students to print in the labs using their WildCards (Note: You cannot print in the labs without your WildCard). The cost to print in the labs is $0.03 per page. However, each student is given 150 pages ($4.50) of free prints per year per active student.

  Uniprint provides the following convenient services and features:

  • It helps decrease paper waste
  • Empowers the students to control and budget their own printing needs
  • Helps contain printing abuse in the labs
  • Enables service growth by offering students specialty printing such as:
    • Color printing Large format printing
  • Offers convenient online features to add funds on their WildCard.

  After the free prints have been utilized, students can put money on their WildCard by visiting the WildCard office in the Shepherd Union Building or through the web http://weber.edu/wildcard

  • Go to https://wildcard.weber.edu/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp
  • Log in using your Wildcat username and password

  "You can use your Wildcat Cash not only to purchase printing but also to make food purchases in the Gallery and a growing number of vending machines across campus."

  General Lab Rules

  1. No food or drink in the computer lab
  2. If required, swipe in with your Wildcard
  3. Academic use has priority in the event of the lab being full
  4. Respect others by maintaining a quiet working environment

  Tips on Using Our Open Labs

  • You must have a student login account to access lab computers

  • Have a disk – Flash drive or CD-R/CD-RW to save your work

  • Save your data every 10-15 minutes

  • Lab Assistants are there to help you so, don't hesitate to ask for help
