University Colors In cases where it isn’t possible to display marks in colors recommended here, always present marks with sharp color contrasts and avoid colors, patterns or treatments which may degrade the mark’s visual clarity and integrity.

Purple and White
WSU’s official colors are purple and white. Gold and gray are approved as support colors but the traditional purple and white should dominate all of our color expressions.

It is often convenient and economical for white to be supplied by the printing surface. Since white is one of our official colors, white paper is usually a better choice than cream or gray.

Note that printing in solid gray ink produces a different effect than printing in a screen of black ink. See link for examples of screened marks and marks printed over screens.

Color Matching Information
Refer to page 28 for details on matching university colors to exact specifications.

A. Wildcat purple and white with attendant colors

B. Wildcat purple, university gray and black are appropriate for displaying marks in a single color.
Foil stamps and other special effect treatments may also be used in limited applications (cover and page 18).
University gold is used as an accent color when marks are displayed in two inks (page 17). It does not provide strong contrast on a white surface, however, nor does it carry the elegance of special effect treatments. University gold is inappropriate for displaying marks in a single color.
Examples of mark/signature units in color are shown on page 19.
