  GUIDE TO GRAPHIC STANDARDS
Fidelity, Integrity and Proportion The principles of use outlined in this guide apply generally to all WSU marks of identity even though the illustrations may portray only the university mark.

Fidelity

Marks should not be redrawn, modified or displayed in rough form (fig. A).

WSU Printing Services will provide camera-ready mechanicals and/or digital masters for all marks.

Integrity

The imagery in all three marks should remain inside the shield and should not be displayed as separate pieces (fig. B). The shield reinforces visual continuity, distinguishes WSU from other universities and helps to clarify the difference between our NCAA sports teams and recreational clubs (marks for recreational clubs do not emphasize the shield container).

Proportion

University marks and signatures are designed according to a specific

height/width ratio. Even slight distortions of marks or signatures will destabilize the consistency of presentation (fig. C).

A. Fidelity

Low grade reproduction does not represent the university well. Always reproduce marks from high-quality original artwork.

B. Integrity

It is inappropriate to display separate components of university marks without the shield container. Always display the complete form of each mark.

C. Proportion
The top two examples are inappropriately distorted. Always display marks and signatures in their exact, original proportions.
