FACULTY STATUS FOR ELIGIBILITY FOR TENURE | No. 8-20 | Rev. 7-8-93 |
| Date 5-13-81 | |||
POLICY
Appointment to any administrative position, including the office of
president, vice president, dean, director or department chair is without
significance for the holding or achieving of tenure. A faculty member
holding a position with tenure in an academic subdivision does not lose
tenure upon accepting an administrative position within the University.
Tenure can be awarded only in an academic department, a college (if such
college is not divided into departments) or in the University Library. An
administrator may be granted tenure in an academic subdivision according to
established criteria. However, no tenure shall be granted by virtue of
administrative position.
An individual holding regular faculty appointments in two or more academic subdivisions may achieve tenure in each only after the regular annual evaluation throughout the normal probationary period in each academic subdivision.
