POLICY:

A. Semester

    Students may register for a maximum of 20 credit hours before the payment deadline for the first registration phase as stated in the registration schedule. After the payment deadline, students who have attained sophomore standing may register for 21 or more credit hours provided they meet the GPA thresholds stated below. Individual GPA’s will be verified by STAARS.

B. Summer Term

    Students may not normally register for more than the number of credit hours listed in the table below for any one of the given terms.

Four week   Six week   Eight week   Ten week   Twelve week
6   9   12   15   18

Students who combined course offerings from different overlapping summer sessions must be certain that the number of credit hours in each of the terms should not exceed the number of hours mandated for that individual term, and the sum of their summer term credit hours should not exceed what the table above indicates, for the elapsed time in weeks they are planning to attend summer classes.

 

C. Appeals

    Any request to exceed the number of credit hours mandated by the table and the rule for combined course offerings must be approved by the dean of the college of the student’s major or the Associate Provost.
