APPROVAL OF SPONSORED PROJECT CONTRIBUTION OR MATCHING FUNDS | No. 4-32 | Rev. |
| Date 8-17-77 | |||
OLD VERSION
I. PURPOSE
To outline the approval channels and responsibilities for providing
contribution funds or matching funds as required on sponsored projects.
II. DEFINITIONS
A. Contribution Funds
Contribution funds are those funds previously planned or to be budgeted
by the University in general or departmental accounts and which will be
expended whether or not the sponsored project is applied for or funded.
B. Matching Funds
Matching funds are those funds required by the sponsoring agency which
result in new dollars to be budgeted and expended by the University.
III. PROCEDURE
A. Contribution Funds
Since contribution funds will be expended whether or not they are used
to "match" sponsored projects, and since such funds can accrue to the
project as "sponsored funds" and be considered as such in future
indirect cost pool calculations, prudence will be used by the principal
investigator and recommended by the Office of Grants and Contracts to
"contribute" a minimal level to the sponsored project.
B. Matching Funds
An "Authorization for Non-Budgeted Matching Funds" form will be completed by the principal investigator and acquire signatures as required on the form (director of Grants and Contracts, associate provost, vice president for Administrative Services).
