POLICY

A. Items of equipment which have become surplus to the needs of offices and departments shall be returned to the Purchasing Department for reallocation to other areas of the University.

B. Such surplus equipment shall be sold to other offices and departments at a cost based on the depreciated replacement value of the equipment.

C. The department which provides the surplus equipment will be credited for the net sales price.

D. Reallocation or disposition of property acquired through sponsored projects shall be approved in consultation with the Office of Grants and Contracts.

E. The vice president for Administrative Services shall sell any material, equipment, supplies or real property belonging to the University not required for University purposes and pay the proceeds thereof into the general fund or, at his discretion, reimburse the department from which the property was taken.
