POLICY

Each faculty member at Weber State University should have five (5) regular office hours for student consultation (normally one (1) hour each day).  He/she should conscientiously try to be in his/her office during the five office hours.

A. The hours should be selected by each teacher at times which do not conflict with his/her classes, meetings or other professional activities.

B. Three hours should normally be scheduled at the same time three days each week, and two hours should normally be scheduled at another time two days a week.  Conflicts between office hours and classes should be lessened for students if the five hours are scheduled during both the morning and afternoon.

C. The hours should be scheduled at convenient times for students (between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon or between l:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.).

D. The office hours should be posted on the office door of each faculty member at all times and should be strictly honored at all times.

E. The office hours may be changed by a faculty member each quarter or at other times when necessary to avoid conflicts with his/her classes or other University assignments.

F. Faculty members should be willing to visit by appointment with students during non-office hours.
