POLICY

A. Full-time and part-time salaried employees shall observe the paid holidays listed below. Holiday pay will be in the same proportion to the number of hours worked on a normal workday. In addition, the employee may select one personal holiday with supervisor approval.

1. Independence Day (July 4)

2. Pioneer Day (July 24)

3. Labor Day (September)

4. Thanksgiving Holiday (Thursday and Friday)

5. Winter Holiday (two days)

6. New Year's Day

7. Martin Luther King Day (January)

8. President's Day (February)

9. Memorial Day 


B. Holidays falling on Sunday will be observed the following Monday.

C. Holidays falling on Saturday will be observed the previous Friday.

D. If an employee is required to work on a scheduled holiday observed by other personnel, the employee shall receive time-and-one-half compensatory time or time-and-one-half pay for that day.

E. Scheduled holidays falling during a vacation period will not be charged against vacation leave.

F. Employees whose days off are other than Saturday and Sunday will be allowed time off for holidays in a way as to be equitable to conditions affecting employees who work Monday through Friday.

G. Upon termination of employment, no payment will be made for holidays falling after the last day on the job. A person must return to work following the holiday in order to receive pay for the holiday.
