POLICY
Sick leave for faculty will
be provided as follows:
A. In the event of illness, an amount equivalent to the employee's regular
salary shall be provided to said employee as sick pay. Said payment
shall be in lieu of the employee's regular salary and shall be made by
reason of the employee's illness. The employee shall not lose any
benefits during the illness period and the employee's duties shall
usually be covered by members and colleagues within the department.
B. The salary and benefits shall normally be paid in the event of extended
absence due to illness or injury until provided under the terms of the
University disability insurance policy (normally beginning after 120
consecutive days).
C. The University reserves the right to require substantiation of absences.
D. Record of extended sick leave is to be maintained by the department
chair or appropriate administrator.
E. A physician's statement indicating the condition of the employee and fitness for duty may be required.
