POLICY

Charges for Library books lost or damaged beyond repair will be assessed as follows:

A. For books in print, the price in the current edition of Books in Print will be used, plus a $5.00 replacement fee per book.

B. For books out of print, the average book price will be used as determined from the tables of Publisher's Weekly annual issue on book trade statistics, wherein the average book prices for the previous year are listed by general subject area and physical format (i.e., hardcover or paperback).  The most recent figure will be used, thus keeping charges consistently in line with prices.

C. In cases of unusual or special circumstances, it will be left to the discretion of the circulation librarian to make special assessments.
