Music Education Teaching Major
BACHELOR OF MUSIC EDUCATION (BME)
- » Program Prerequisites: Audition required for
admission to program. Must meet the Teacher Education admission and licensure requirements (see Teacher Education
Department).

- » Minor: Not required.

- » Grade Requirements: A grade of "C" or better in courses
required for this major (a grade of "C-" is not acceptable). Teaching majors
must also achieve an overall GPA of 3.00 for admission to the Teacher Education program.

- » Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 120 credit hours is required
for either the Choral or Instrumental Emphasis; a minimum of 62 credit hours is required
within the major. A total of 40 upper division credit hours is required (courses numbered
3000 and above) -- 23-28 of these are required within the major.

Declare your program of study. Teaching majors must meet the Teacher Education admission and licensure requirements (see Teacher
Education Department).
General Education
Refer to General Requirements for Bachelor
of Music requirements. TBE TE1700 and LIBS TD1704 or LIBS TD2201 will fulfill the
Computer Literacy general
education requirement. PSY SS1010 is recommended.

Students in the BM and BME programs must be enrolled in Class Piano or
private piano lessons until piano proficiency is passed. Students may not
register for private instruction at the 3000 or 4000 level until piano
proficiency is passed.
